Lesson Overview/Summary:

Students will learn how to cook an authentic dish, beverage, and dessert from a country of their choice.  They will work in groups of 3.  They will create menus and restaurant scenarios in which they will serve food to the whole class. 

 
Students Will Understand:  

Students will understand the importance of learning practical Spanish dialogues that are used in real-life situations.  Students will realize that being able to speak speak Spanish can open doors of opportunities for them and these phrases will help them to achieve these goals.

 

 

Essential Questions:

How will I know what special foods belong to which Spanish speaking countries?
How will I know how to create menus and create a restaurant type of atmosphere?
What is typical of a lunch and dinner menu in Spanish?
How will I know what to say when making restaurant reservations?
How will I know what to say when serving and taking orders for the food?
How will I know how to order the food and how to use proper expressions of gratitude?

 

 

 

 

Standard Based Goals & Objectives:

Standard 2:  My Spanish II students will gain knowledge and understanding of other people and cultures through the study of the Spanish language.

     Benchmark 1.1c:  Students will prepare various forms of formal and informal written communication.




Prerequisite Skills & Key Knowledge:

My Spanish II class will have to have a developed understanding of the present and preterit tenses.
The understanding of how to communicate with another culture.
Skills necessary to use proper greetings, salutations, and proper expressions of gratitude.
The basic Spanish vocabulary to help develop better sentence fluency.

  Special Considerations:

I will group stronger and weaker students together so that they can help each other in their groups.


Assessment:

Students will be assessed on their menus, restuarante scenarios, food, and phrases that they use throughout the dialogues.
